Course Learning Objectives/Outcomes

By the end of the course, the Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist will be able to:
-Identify three approaches regarding disentangling stereotypes.
-List three approaches to multicultural training.
-Discuss five cultural adaptation methods.
-Describe five factors that regulate acculturative stress in Hispanic clients.
-Explain what decreases in response to counterstereotypic mental imagery increasing the accessibility of counterstereotypic associations.
-Explain what is found in multiculturalism literature and cannot be tested empirically.
-Explain the cultural counseling issues grouped under reconciliation.
-Explain what is a cause of multicultural client complaints.
-Explain what clinicians need to feel positive about to feel comfortable as possible in cross-cultural work.
